What is EPS
Expanded polystyrene (EPS) is a rigid and tough, closed-cell foam. It is made of pre-expanded polystyrene beads. Polystyrene foams are good thermal insulators and are therefore often used as building insulation materials, such as in external wall insulation systems. Did you know you save over 50% of CO2 emissions by using EPS insulation. PS foams also exhibit good damping properties, therefore it is used widely in packaging…

Where does our EPS waste end up?
Thousands of tonnes of polystyrene are sent to landfill every year unnecessarily. Why is this an issue? EPS is non-biodegradable and due to its technical properties takes considerable time to break down. Eventually EPS will degrade but this process can leak harmful material into our environment.

What can you do?
RECYCLE - EPS is 100% recyclable - Please contact us regarding your recycling requirements

Can Amaroc help?
Yes. Amaroc is keen to encourage and support you in the recycling of EPS. With many local authorities unable to offer the services to recycle EPS, it can be expensive to manage. With new technologies available Amaroc has the ability to recycle EPS at its warehouse in Swindon. The Styromelt machine allows us to melt EPS down into a small, dense and sterilised block of material.
Now for the good news, the densified polystyrene blocks can be recycled to make new fuels or products such as garden furniture.

What can Amaroc recycle?
Amaroc will take all forms of EPS providing it is in a reasonable clean state. A reasonable clean state means that it is dry, not mixed with other material or is contaminated in any shape or form.

How much will it cost?

Prices are based on whether we collect or you the customer deliver.
